Vintage Patterns

Look what I've got, here are just a few of a big stash of patterns all for £1.20! It looks like a lifetime collection dating from the 50's, I think......to the 70's or 80's. I'm going to have a go at making some of them.

Happy families
Talk about 'batgirl!'
This model is so pretty, I think she looks really contemporary with her cute haircut.
I know that cool fingerless sleeve-let things are fashionable now and I love them, but I like these gloves too. I might have a go at making pair 'C' ..........Very ladylike......
Didn't teenagers look old in the 1950's?

I might post some more over the next few months and if anyone is interested in that neat nipped-in waist, three quarter length sleeve look, or even the bat lady look, I can reproduce the pattern for you. I'm sure they'll be out of copyright by now.

  1. These look fabulous! The only problem I have with vintage patterns is that they are so small. Have you noticed that about the measurements?

  2. I suppose it might be possible as long as the tension is right, to increase the number of stitches and lengthen the measurements a bit.....because ladies also seemed much shorter too....

I've seen the dresses that the Bronte sisters used to wear in the old Parsonage Museum in Howarth and they are so tiny. Not only in width but height too....but you must come across that all the time in your curating work.....

  3. I think they are beautiful enough to frame and hang on the wall! I like the crop tops in the last picture the best:)

  4. Great idea Rel.

I like the little cropped ones too and think they are actually wearable. Just let me know if you want copies of any of them and I'll email you a copy.

  5. Debbie,

It would be really kind of you to email me a copy of either of those little crop tops. Excuse my techno illiteracy, but is there a way of giving you my email without making it public to all?
