Yarn Along

I have so much to share this week that I'm not sure where to begin. I finished my random knit scarf.  At one point I wasn't sure if it was working but now that it's finished I love the random stripes, and that it's so soft and warm.

H's friend face-booked me an image of herself wearing the deer with little antlers hat and said that I can share it. She looks so cute in it.  I can't enlarge it because it pixilates too much.

And to top it all  off on Sunday one of my lovely sisters 'B' treated me to a ticket to Unravel, a festival of knitting. We were sitting in her bag-making workshop on new years day and she bought the tickets online so we could go together.  It would give us something nice to look forward to in the new year.  It was a bit overwhelming in a wonderful way. We both wished mum had been with us...she would have loved it...I have a little bit of mum's fair isle knitting that she was working on still on the needles...I think a lot about her at this time of year...

Unravel was full of beautiful things...I wanted to share them with you... even the lampshades were knitted... There was a Selvedge stall with Fog Linen offcuts for patchwork...art work...knitting cafes, workshops, spinning area...so much to take in.  I didn't buy anything...just drank it all up...but will definitely save up if we go again next year.

Reading?  B lent me The Knitter's Year by Debbie Bliss at the weekend and I've been pouring through it ever since. Fifty two small projects to take you right through the year.  I hope to start one tonight.

And I'm still enjoying The Help by Katharine Stockett a fascinating book full of social history set in a time of great change that raises so many important issues.

As usual linking over to Ginny of Small Things blog  Yarn Along

...why not come too...

  1. Ha! I forgot you said that you had gone to Unravel. It took a few photos before I realised I wasn't looking at your wonderful stash. So well organised that you were putting me to shame. I must go one of these days. Not just balls of wool! Your scarf looks perfect. It looks quite long.

    1. No such luck...I was just thinking what an untidy worker I am...you can see from all the things piled behind me in my little studio..not sure what's happened to me...I used to be so tidy...

Unravel is amazing...so much wonderful yarn and lots of other beautiful things too Cheryl...you should go if you get a chance next year.

My scarf is long...I wanted to be able to wind it round a couple of times before knotting it. To Keep me nice and warm...just in time for the warm weather...!

    1. Although we only went for one day and were exhausted by the end of the morning the great thing is that if you have a ticket you can use it over two days. It's not a massive venue but there is so much to look at and join in with you could spend the whole weekend there.

  6. Well there are some cute little bunny egg cosies that would make a perfect Easter gift and shouldn't take long to make. I know my daughter Hannah would love them...I'm going to see her on Friday so hopefully can take them for her along with another pair of Hopsolot bunny slippers..

.I'll hopefully share next week if I do...

  7. Look at all those lovely goodies - the linen tape or edging and the knitted lampshape - great! Your striped scarf has such a deep red stripe - I like the combo.
