Yarn along...pixie knitting....

I feel as though I am doing little pixie knitting at the moment.  With tiny bamboo 2.5mm needles that look like cocktail sticks.  I'm starting to make a sock yarn blanket using this free pattern. It all began  when I saw one here and was asked if I'd like some odds and ends to make one too. Of course I said 'yes, thank you.' Isn't blogger land lovely.

So I've been sorting out my own bits and bobs to try out the pattern, while I wait for the gifted ones to arrive. I don't think I've ever knitted on such tiny needles. It's going to be for H. One to travel with, wherever life takes her. It will be a long, slow process, and I'm ready for that. I've been wanting a blanket project ever since I saw one here and read about the one being made here from the crumbs of yarn that end up in an old picnic basket that sits in the living room corner. A slow homey project to pick up and put down in-between others. Amanda is on her fifth year of knitting hers...I hope it will take a bit less time to finish mine.

Meanwhile I have started to post my knitted projects on ravelry. I am a ravelry novice, even though I've been a member for ages. I'm a bit slow catching up and have lots of old projects to add and some half written. But I've begun with these new ones:
It's such a safe and cosy place to go to and I can see my friends there too...I'm still not quite sure of the protocol, but I'll get there...eventually and find you all.

And I am reading three books:

  •  The Murder Stone by Louise Penny, very quickly, because I'm a bit disappointed with her writing and the murder didn't even happen until the last page of chapter ten! But I want to know who the culprit is.
  • Noah's Compass by Anne Tyler because I lover her writing and spotted it when I was taking dvd's back to the library and I couldn't resist picking it up.
  • The House with Seven Gables (still) by Nathanial Hawthorne, very slowly, because I don't want it ever to end.
I wonder what you are making and reading?

I'm joining with ginny, tami and nicole today

are you coming to share too?

  1. I can't wait to see your blanket Debby, I love Steph's. so much and I know yours is going to be fabulous.
Ravelry is a great site, but I still have a little notebook I jot everything in too. The kid's laugh at me, but that is the way I was raised in 'dinosaur time' ;)

  4. I look forward to seeing the progress of the blanket, steph's ones are gorgeous. I like the idea of picking it up and do bits of it once in a while.
