Golden days...

My needles are flying again. This Annabel pullover seems to be magically growing.  The Blue Faced Leicester yarn is amazingly soft and comes in lovely shades. The Gold reminds me of the golden wheat fields down the lane and my favourite Elan Valley. The pattern is so simple that I can knit on the go. I don't want to put it down, and find any excuse not to.

Maybe it's because I had a bit of a brain freeze with the Cobblestone Pullover...My fault, not the pattern (it's an easy one too). I just had a minor wobbly when it came to the wrap and turn. Or maybe because the Icelandic lopi yarn, which I love as well, isn't quite as soft as this. This seems like a dream to work with.

This will be the second Annabel sweater that I've knitted. I made the last one with linen yarn. I've decided to make it a few inches longer than the pattern. I cast off the body but left the yarn attached so that I could try it on. It's still a little shorter than I want, and as it's a boxy pullover I've decided to increase it at the sides to fit snuggly over the top of my hips and prevent it riding up at the back. That's the plan anyway, I'll put the notes on ravelry if I manage to do it.

I feel guilty knitting in the daytime when there's lots of work to do. But the bread is rising in the pantry and the washing spinning in the machine and and I have to do something while I'm waiting don't I? Just a couple more rows... I told, you...I can't put it down...

My spelt bread recipe, made without the seeds this time

The bread is ready now...decisions, decisions...More knitting or freshly baked bread with my favourite Oxford Marmalade...

...maybe a bit of both...

I'm joining Ginny and  Nicole,
...are you coming too?

  1. I really love the title of your post and all the lovely photos, although I must confess to having a deep desire to eat homemade bread with marmalade now. :)
I felt guilty knitting this morning, but it was pour rain and I couldn't get outside. Sometimes I think we just need to sit and knit a bit don't you? :)

    1. Thank you Tracey. He he...I love marmalade, especially this Oxford Marmalade, it has a lovely bitter flavour. I know I should really make my own, hopefully next year. The bread is so more-ish too, the flour is nice and nutty. It's a very soft dough so doesn't keep a good shape and never looks pretty, But definitely makes up for looks with flavour.
I definitely agree about the knitting. It's seems even more of a treat when you know that I should be doing something else...
      Happy rainy knitting days.

    1. Thank you Susan. I know that valley is beautiful. Just a short ride across the border into Wales we reach the Elan valley with lakes and hills. It's beautiful to walk there and spot foxes, sheep and birds, very peaceful.

    1. HI Emily, thank you. That scenery is amazing isn't it. I find the colours influence my choices so much.
      Have a great weekend,

  4. Such pretty yarn! And you look sweet. Sometimes the easiest pattern are the ones you mess up on. You go into auto-pilot and that's when mistakes are made. This is the third time I'm trying to knit a simple little baby sweater. Thought I had the pattern down pat.

    1. I love this yarn. Oh thanks Jane for the nice compliment, especially as I wasn't feeling very well when Ahmad took the photo and hardly slept the night before. He seems to always catch me when I'm eating or pulling a funny face. But I don't have many when I'm knitting. Good luck with the baby sweater. I'm determined to finish Ahmad's this weekend.
Hope you have a good weekend, Happy Halloween if you celebrate

  6. Hi Karen, thanks for your solidarity. I know it's bad, maybe because I love doing it so much it doesn't feel like a chore.
    Happy weekend,

    1. Hi Karen, I just re-read my reply to your comment. I must have been tired when I wrote it last night, because I have no idea what I meant...! Basically hurray for knitting...
