...now on their way to a Himba village in Namibia, Africa via California....I hope they get there in time...

...and I'm reading about lots of interesting reprinted neglected  books in The Persephone Biannually that arrived in the post. I love the cover image...'The Buffet' oil on Canvas by William Strang (1859-1921)...I'm going to explore his work further...

  1. So many pockets for Lori. I hope she shares a few photos of those who will receive them. I too would love to be there.

  2. Knowing Lori I'm sure there will be lots of amazing photographs and even a film or two on her blog when she returns. I hope mine get to her in time as they have a long way to go. I only had time to make a few and didn't really have any appropriate yarn...but it's good to note that the Himba don't wash their clothes so maybe these will naturally felt with time.

  3. The sweater you are knitting is a beautiful design! I love the tailored look. The pockets are sweet and I know the people who receive them will love them to pieces :)

  5. I just wanted to say that it's third one I've made and fits perfectly and is really simple to make. Hopefully I'll be able to show it next week and even get to grips with posting on Ravelry which I haven't tried yet.

Then I wanted to say what a great idea the pockets are. I just wish I'd had time to make more and buy some nice colourful yarn. I'm sure there will be another opportunity to do so.

  6. I'm looking forward to seeing how the fleck in your wool works for your jacket. I hope your pockets find their way to Lori in time.

  7. I hope they do too Cheryl.

I love the way it knits up. It has both white and a little mustard colour fleck too that will go with a number of things. I'm panicking a bit about the wool because I don't think I've got quite enough for the last little bit. I bought one extra skein and I think it was the last they had in the store! I'm sure I'll manage to sort something out though...

    Have a good weekend.

  8. That tweed looks cozy...and I have a few kids who wouldn't mind a few of those little pockets for themselves; Christmas stocking-stuffers, perhaps...
