Ever since we were treated to supper by the river and A ordered a trio of burgers and his face dropped when they arrived because they were mini burgers, but soon cheered up when he tried the wild boar one saying that it was the best and most tenderly succulent meat that he'd ever eaten; he's been hankering for another one. So on H's last afternoon before she started work, when the sun was shining and I had lot's of other things that I should have been doing but knew we'd never get that sunny day back, H and I decided to go to the lock and sit under the big old oak tree with the reflection of the water dancing on the bark (that I tried to photograph but I couldn't capture) and drink ginger beer with ice and lemon. We phoned A and ask him to meet us there after school so he could indulge in a man-sized wild boar burger. He persuaded us to have something too and even though we were full of ginger beer we couldn't resist crumbed and battered and filo wrapped prawns with a spicy dip and sweet potato chips.
And we ate and watched the boats go by and talked about future plans and dreamed of saving up enough money to go to Iran next summer...and watched the reflections dance some more...
Sounds like a lovely outing with family! Beautiful weather you had :)
ReplyDeleteIt was one of those lovely spur of the moment outings to end the summer.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect ... and I adore your photos and lovely reflections in this post. I love those dreamy, lazy kind of conversations (they can sometimes lead to the most wondrous things). :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tracey it really was. I really wish I could have captured the light bouncing back off the water. It was a lovely unexpected afternoon and good to talk about all our future hopes and plans.
