yarn along

I
I wish my yarn stash was as big as my book stash. H needed more space and was sorting out books for charity, I borrowed some...They will still go to charity...I'll just read them first.

I started with 'The Accidental Tourist' by Anne Tyler. It's the first time I've read any of her novels.  I think, I like her writing style. Not overly flowery or too many adjectives, that she makes ordinary people interesting, and chooses amazing titles that just draw you in. I think she looks nice too, very wise and kind.

On the needles...another beginning. I'm just starting out on a
shift of focus cardigan. I first saw this one, here where I go a lot when I just want to look at nice things. I think it's one of the most beautiful tumbler blogs.

I'm making it in this yarn. I love the way it's knitting up in garter stitch.

I finished the simple Lala shawl in this Quince and co yarn. It was just as easy as I'd hoped.

I'm joining with ginny for yarn along.

...so that's me, what about you?

  1. I wish my yarn stash was as big as the books I have here too, althougth if it was I might not have room to move...I have A LOT of books.

I popped over and looked at the cardigan you are knitting Debby, and it is so pretty, I want to knit it too.

    1. It's such a lovely, easy pattern to follow. A one for watching TV or downloading photos at the same time.

  2. The color you chose for the lovely shawl is so pretty, I am very drawn to that "neutral" color these days. It looks so cozy.

  4. I have the same wish! We have so many books around here but many I can get at the library... too bad there's no such thing as a yarn library!

I keep trying to decide on a pattern for making myself my first and have been so drawn to the Shift of Focus for weeks now but I think I am going to start with a pattern for bulky yarn that is already in my stash -which rules this one out! Boo!

I love the picture of your shawl above - beautiful!

    1. Oh that would be amazing Sarah.

The bulky one should knit up quite quickly and it's nice to have something else to look forward to making.

  5. Debby, I had to tell you thank you for introducing me to Rhubarb in the Garden. Wow! I have it opened on my computer and keep coming back to gaze at all the lovely photos. I've never visited a tumbler blog before, and I am so glad you showed me this one. Life really is beautiful!

  6. You're welcome Tracey. I remember the first day I discovered Rhubarb in the Garden I must have spent hours pouring over the pages. Each one even better than the last.

  7. I don't know how you can bear to part with books - then again I am a terrible hoarder, thank goodness my wool stash is small! I have not read The Accidental Tourist but saw the movie recently on TV, perhaps I should give it a go too. I am reading the Elegance of the Hedgehog at the moment for Book Club but I am not making much progress.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. We find it hard too but we have a small house and we all love books. Hannah's doing her second degree in literature now and has to buy lots more the walls in each room are full of them. But it's nice to pass them on to other people if they don't have any sentimental value, then someone else can enjoy them and maybe pass them on again.

Good luck with your book club read...I hope it gets more enjoyable as you progress.

  8. Hi Debby - Sorry it's been so long since I paid you a visit. I have missed your wonderful blog and your ever delightful writing.

I love a good book stash, and yours looks and sounds rather wonderful to me. I'm on a real reading bender at the moment and just can't seem to get enough.

Love that shawl too (beautiful colour).
