Some nice things at the Antique, Craft and Farmers Market.

I can't resist a quick look at the Antique and Craft Market in Gloucester Green on a Thursday if at all possible. Especially on the 1st and 3rd week of the month when it's the Farmers Market too.

It happened to be lunch time when I dashed through last Thursday and I just had to stop at the Country Deli stall to sample a little piece of the Super Rich Chocolate Torte tart, which tasted just as delicious as it looked. I was really hungry and decided to treat myself.....it was a really hard decision as the almond slice also looked really moist and tempting with tantalising slivers of strawberry on top. I do however have a weakness for homemade egg custards like my mum used to make.

The ones on the Deli stall really lived up to expectation. Sweet enough so that it didn't taste like an omelet, but not too sweet. The pastry was perfect. It was firm enough to hold the custard but not tough, nor was it soggy. Which I think is the worse thing that can happen to a custard tart, and it was fragrant and slightly sweet but again not overly so.......perfect.....mmm Highly recommended.

I was really pleased to see Joanna Hazell's lovely stall Darn It And Stitch on the market again too. It's such a pretty stall.....I just love all that needlework paraphernalia.........and the logo designed by Jo's talented sister, illustrator Kate Hazell...........so I had to buy this needle case made out an embroidered vintage coaster for one of mine.......because she loves all that sewing stuff too............
