Fruit Salad

I know it's naughty to buy fruit out of season but I couldn't resist getting some strawberries. They smack of summer days and picnics in the garden. I like to make big fruit salads with my favourite fruits and a little apple juice or squeeze on a lemon or lime then pile up big bowls of it for a snack or plop it on top of green salad or quinoa or yummy porridge.......mmm......

  1. Looks luscious. We're loving the nectarines at the moment and the berries have been wonderful this Summer.

  2. Lovely....I can't wait for my little blueberry bush to produce fruit this summer although I'm sure there will only be a tiny handful and we love nectarines too...mmm

I want to try out the tomato salad recipe that you made with the fruits of your garden it sounded delicious. There are some plum tomatoes coming in my veg box tomorrow so I'll definitely try it and let you know how I get on.

  3. Please do. I think you'll be suitably impressed!
Our blueberry bush is growing very well but we've only had a few actual blueberries, maybe it will be better next season.

  4. Oh that's so worth indulging in a little out-of-season fruit ... sometimes my craving for fresh strawberries is almost unbearable! ;)

Looks and sounds like a delicious fruit salad you've created there. Whenever I visit here I feel like I've taken a tour of my own tastebuds - especially when you say things like this, 'on top of green salad or quinoa or yummy porridge' ... that sounds pretty fantastic to me!! :)

Remind me to pop in on you at meal time sometime! ;)

  5. That would be lovely Tracey....you're welcome any time....

It's a shame that like you most of my blogger friends are so far away ....wouldn't it be cool if we all met up for afternoon tea.....maybe one day....

  6. I know what you mean, there's pretty much no in-season fruit around Oxford at the moment. I'm trying to buy fruit that's in season somewhere not too far away, but sometimes it's good just to have a little of what you fancy!

  7. I saw three punnets of strawberries for $5 in my local today and two of blueberries for the same. Yummo.
I'll check out the Advanced Style blog. Thanks for the tip.

  8. It would absolutely be wonderful if we could have afternoon tea together one day. Maybe one day we could all do a conference call on Skype (not sure how you do this but I'm sure there's a way!)?

  9. Thanks for coming over Sophie.....I'd be interested to know where you're sourcing your local fruit from.... I couldn't resist blueberries this week as well as the strawberries I'm so impatient.....

Oh and I tried out the salad Caz. It took a little bit of getting used to the pomegranate syrup used this way. I'm so used to having it in the ground walnut and honey sauce so this way seemed a little diluted for me....I couldn't get the deep sour hit I'm used to....I think I'll leave out the water next time...I also think that the tomatoes weren't so good...so that spoiled the salad a little....

The conference call is a great idea.....not as good as afternoon tea, but next best thing.....
