I couldn't share you everything that I've been making recently as I've been working on secret stocking filler projects that can't be hidden from beady eyes here. But I can show you some things I've been working on...
It's a little bit kitsch for my taste, but fun to make and the recipient was so pleased with it that I've had a request for a knitted dog, a la Muir and Osborne. Not any dog, but a copy of their real life boxer. Thankfully not life-size!
Hence I've been reading this Muir and Osborne book of knitted dog patterns, Best in Show. Unfortunately there isn't a Boxer in there,
so there's going to be quite a bit of experimental knitting going on.
I didn't think I'd be into knitted dogs...but that pug is so cute and would look awesome sitting on an armchair...and just think I wouldn't even have to take it for a walk...
I've linked over to Yarn Along on small things today perhaps you'd like to pop over and see what others are reading and knitting...

ReplyDeleteI think the above was a phishing comment..if that's the correct term...something commercial and so I have deleted it...I'm happy for anyone to comment but please leave your name thanks even if it's only a nick-name so that I know you are a real person.
ReplyDeleteThe tea cosy is beautiful - those colours remind me of gems.
ReplyDeleteLove the book and I'm with you, a dog that doesn't need walking is perfect.
Enjoy the experimentation.
I love the tea cosy - so fun! Not something I would ever need (as a non-tea drinker) but still, I kinda wanna make a hat version instead!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks Mistea.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll be able to post an image of the completed boxer next week...if it works ok...even if it doesn't... then I might be able to get some tips from all you other knitters..
Have a good day,
Deb
Thanks for the nice comment pinkundine...love the idea of the hat version!!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Deb

The tea cozy is a hoot! I can't wait to see th boxer. The other dogs are adorable - have fun experimenting :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I may have to get that book. My niece has been asking and asking for a knit dog from me for a couple years now...I can only seem to find crochet patterns, or dogs that don't actually look like dogs that you knit :-)
ReplyDeletewow, that tea cosy is amazing. i bow to your knitting awesomeness lol. I agree, that kind of dog would be easy to take care of ; ) Thanks for sharing. Tricia
ReplyDeleteActually Bex, the more I think about making the boxer, the more I wonder what I've taken on! fortunately it's for a birthday at the end of January so if I need to I can put it to one side for a bit whilst getting on with stocking fillers. Hopefully I'll be sharing a picture soon though...

Kate, thanks it is fun isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHeather,
The rrp is £12.99 but I managed to get it on Amazon a couple of weeks ago for only £4.55 which is great for a hard backed book with 25 patterns.
I've looked today and it's and there is one for £3.18! Here's the a link:-
