Yarn Along

The totoro mittens are all knitted up and posted off to H. I'm deciding what to make next. I've been looking at patterns over at  Quince & co...there are quite a few contenders at the moment.

Meanwhile I bought a cute little hooded red jacket in a sale on Saturday and peeping out in a bargain basket in the same lovely shop was a reduced ball of Debbie Bliss alpaca and silk wool...just one.  I picked it up, it was so soft and such a gorgeous colour of cherry red that I couldn't resist. So I'm making a randomly striped scarf with odds and ends to go with the jacket. I've tried to show you my jacket but the mirror's too low...so I was all hunched up.

I stole downstairs on freezing Sunday morning tucked up in a rug on the sofa and started knitting it. Hopefully I'll soon finish it and I can show it to you next week...I'll get someone else to take a picture! Oh and tell you about my visit to Unravel this weekend.

I've started reading The Help By Kathryn Stockett...more compulsive reading but I'll tell you more about it next time.

As usual I'm joining blogger friends for Yarn Along...

...are you coming too?

  1. It is so nice to put a face with the words!
Great jacket and the Debbie Bliss yarn is lovely, what a great find.
I can't wait to hear what you think of the Help. I read it a few months ago so I'm curious.
    Have a great weekend.

  2. I know...for some reason blogger won't let me put any more images on the header page so I can't have one of me up there...I think I've used up my quota!

The yarn is so beautiful to work with. It is really soft, I wish I could get some more but think it's discontinued in the store I got it from...hence the reduction.

I can't put 'The Help' down since starting reading it yesterday. I'll let you know how I get on....

Hope you have a good one too...

  3. I read The Help a year or so ago and really enjoyed it. My book group had a lively discussion on the topic. The red is gorgeous! And those mittens - fantastic. I have used Picnik in the past to create a banner for my blog (they are closing house soon though)

    1. I'm sure that there are tons of issues to discuss relating to this Heather so I can't wait to finish it and compare notes.

Thanks for the information about Picnik I'll google it now and then play around with it. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it before they close down!

  4. Love the colour of your yarn, and your jacket looks really nice.

I finished reading 'The Help' not too long ago, and I really enjoyed it. I'm interested in seeing the movie now.

    1. I want to see the movie too Tracey. That's one of the reasons I'm quickly reading the novel first...It was a Christmas gift in my little pile by the side of the bed... I'm really enjoying it so far too.
      Have a great weekend,
      Deb
