Yarn Along and the Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessing

It's been freezing here and wrist-warmers and fingerless mitts aren't quite warm enough, but these Totoro mittens (that you can download here) will be perfect double thickness with all the interwoven wool carried across the back.

The instructions are really clear and easy to follow if you're used to knitting fair isle. I'm using Debby Bliss Cashmerino double knit so they are lovely and soft. It's only my second attempt at using circular needles and the loop was rather big and I had to pull it through the stitches...so it's not perfect, still needs the thumb inserting and a good pressing.  But by the second one I'd really got it down to a T! I think this one will be much better...and there's going to be no stopping me now...

I first  spotted these mittens over here where I also found this lovely little film The Fantastic  Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore from moonbot studios. I just had to share it with you too. I know that like me you are all book lovers so why not  make yourself a tea, herbal or otherwise and indulge in fifteen minutes viewing...this is such a gentle little film...

...and reading?  I haven't had much time this week but still intrigued by Sophie's World.

Joining in again with yarn along this week...

are you coming too...

    1. Thank you Hurrayic. I got it from a Danish shop in London called Tiger...it was very cheap...It is signed on the back but I can't read the name. It's something like Rebecca Jaybo. i've tried a few different spellings but can't find anything about the designer, but you can check out the website if you like:

I can't see the plate on the website but there is a similar mug.

  11. Oh! I absolutely LOVE those gloves! They remind me of my childhood summers in Japan and would be the perfect gift to knit up as a thank you for my friend in the hospital there.
