It feels like progress. Everything is changing for the good...I think. Each time a job is done there are a million decisions to make and another ton of dirt.
My lovely new neighbour...who I think is an angel in disguise...rescued me one afternoon when the drilling and detritus overwhelmed. She took me here and here. Treated me to scrumptious afternoon tea here. We treated ourselves to rusty olive/grape bins. Soon filled at the weekend with a bargain half price tree from here. A pretty Photinia,'Little Robin' (red robin or
Squeezed in-between brushing and mopping I stole time to read a whole newspaper, sneaked a few pages of this and watched my talented nephew Josh's film debut. He really nailed the North Lancashire accent and he can act. There's quite a bit of swearing but it's appropriate to the plot so please excuse if you get to watch it.
So that was how my week ended...how about yours?

You had a busy weekend! You find the most amazing vintage stuff.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the Lucia books in year, but I loved them.
Thank you. We've found some amazing thing recently as we also go to a local auction most weeks if we can. I've just began reading them but they seem perfect for this time of year.

I'm so happy you have a neighbor who you have found as a sweet friend. I'm sure one day the mess will be gone and they busyness will be but a dream- until then happy renovations!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky to have found some wonderful friends Karen. We are beginning to see vast improvements already. Hopefully the most disruptive jobs will have been completed by the end of the week and then we can begin some decorating until the next wave of dirty jobs continues.

Having a good neighbor is the best and it sounds like you have that. I have been sitting here just gazing at your photos; I think I could spend a week at that salvage yard, oh my goodness, all the lovelies. I'm glad you are getting a little time to read and congratulations to your nephew, that must be exciting.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great week Debby.
We are so lucky Tracy to found so many new friends in such a short time. The salvage yard is amazing I could loose hours there. Then there are the auctions...that's a whole other story...I'm so pleased about Josh because he's worked hard.
DeleteHave a great week too.

that salvage yard was HEAVEN!!!! What fun....glad the progress is continuing; you are much braver taking on such a project than I could ever be. (did you bring one of those pigs home?)
ReplyDeleteI know and it goes on and on. There are lots of outbuildings and barns to search through and rooms full of boxes of all sorts of interesting finds.
DeleteThe pigs were very cute, I was so tempted...maybe next time if they are still there.

I'm so excited about the progress that is being made on your new home...I love each and every picture of it that you share with us. I get a tickle down my spine when I think of the layers of history in your home. The vintage items are beautiful...what fun you must have at those auctions!
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily. It seems to be coming along in fits and starts but at last this week we made some major progress...I will share some photos soon.
