Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights Recipe 14 - Asparagus Soup with Parmesan and Preventing Future Cupboard Avalanches.

A quick break from long overdue spring cleaning - an attempt to prevent any more minor avalanches of pots etc from cupboards, which is a common occurrence in my home at the moment. Others too, judging by recent blog posts like this one here. I can't afford to lose any more dishes...

Just time for a quick flick through the Spring Lunch section of Miss Dahl's Voluptuous Delights. I had all the ingredients for Asparagus Soup with Parmessan on pages 168/169 thanks to the reduced product section in the supermarket on Saturday so decided to have a go. You can watch Miss D make it here.

I'm so glad that she has the same problem with portion size as me...I think that this recipe makes enough for two people, and not four to six too!

This is a great seasonal dish, easy to make and delicious. 10/10 for ease and taste.

  1. I'm really enjoying cooking from Sophie's book (although I did try the Buttermilk Chicken and didn't think much of it) so if I can find some asparagus that hasn't been imported from Peru I will give this one a try. Your photo makes it look very enticing!

  2. It's one of my favourite cookery books to date...but I have to agree with you Caz on the Buttermilk Chicken recipe I only gave it a 7/10 but I used yoghurt instead of buttermilk and wondered if that may have affected the result. I also wasn't totally satisfied with the Pear and Ginger Muffins but again I used slightly different ingredients.

But I've loved everything else that I've tried. I like the fact that she uses healthy ingredients as much as possible without compromising flavour.

  3. Yum, yum, yum! Looks absolutely delicious Debby ... can I come to your place for dinner? ;)

I'm doing a big spring clean at the moment too, even if it is autumn in my part of the world ... it feels great to get rid of so much stuff and rubbish.

  4. I wish you could Tracey!

It's so good when you've sorted everything out...it's amazing where everything comes from. Like you, I really am in the mood for simplification. It just seems to be taking so long to do...but it'll definitely be worth all the effort.
